RentOut ("we", "our", "us") operates a peer-to-peer rental marketplace mobile application that helps people list and rent items such as vehicles, clothing, phones, electronics, tools, and outdoor gear on a per-day basis. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the RentOut app and related services.
Account information: name, email address, mobile phone number, and address details you provide during signup or profile editing.
Location information: area, city, state, and coordinates obtained through Google Places search, GPS (when you grant permission), or your manually entered exact address (house number, flat, landmark).
Listing information: item title, description, category, daily rent, security deposit, pickup location, and photos you upload.
Booking information: selected rental dates, booking status, rental totals, and deposit amounts associated with your bookings.
Authentication data: one-time passwords (OTP) sent to your phone for login and signup verification.
Device and usage data: basic technical logs needed to operate the service, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability.
We use your information to:
• create and manage your RentOut account;
• verify your identity using phone OTP;
• display listings near you and enable location-based search;
• let owners publish listings and renters make date-based bookings;
• process deposits and payment summaries shown in the app;
• send booking and account-related notifications;

When you add listing photos, images are uploaded to our servers and stored on secure cloud storage (Amazon S3 or equivalent). Listing images may be publicly visible to other users browsing the marketplace. Do not upload photos containing sensitive personal information you do not want others to see.
RentOut uses trusted third-party providers to operate the service, including:
• Google Places API — for address search and geocoding;
• cloud hosting and database providers — to store account, listing, and booking data;
• cloud storage — for uploaded images.
These providers process data only as needed to deliver the service. Their use of information may also be governed by their own privacy policies.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:
• with other users as part of the rental marketplace (for example, listing location area, owner name, and booking dates);
• with service providers that help us run RentOut;
• when required by law, court order, or to protect users, our rights, or safety;
• with your consent.
Your full phone number is not shown publicly to other users unless you choose to share it during a rental conversation outside the app.
We retain your account, listing, and booking data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms of Service, and meet legal obligations. You may request account deletion by contacting support.
We use industry-standard safeguards such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), authenticated API access, and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong device lock and keep your login session private.
You can update your profile, address, and preferred location from the app. You can control location permissions in your device settings. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data — contact us to make a request.
RentOut is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of RentOut after changes means you accept the updated policy.
